Protect Preserve Promote Life and Environment

SURAKSHA Public Charitable Trust, is formed by likeminded people who believe in the motto ‘Protect Preserve Promote Life and Environment’. The activities of the Trust include in-depth study of grave matters of urgent importance adversely affecting the society with the intention to find ways to resolve them  by bringing the same into the immediate attention of the authorities  seeking their immediate intervention.

Aims And Objectives

The aims and objectives of the Trust are as follows

  • To create awareness among people about the looming scarcity of water required to continue human and animal life on Earth, and to undertake necessary studies about the depleting water resources in India and the importance to undertake massive efforts to restore water resources in the country through possible human efforts.
  • To create awareness among people residing along the trajectory of all Dams in India, about the importance of ensuring safety and security of Dams in the event of unforeseen destruction of a Dam for any reason.
  • To invite attention of all involved in the management and administration of dams in India about the importance on the subject of safety and security of dams, its day to day maintenance, efficient warning and alarm systems for the people living in the vicinity of dams, time bound inspection and declaration of decommission of dams.
  • To ensure an effective operating system for all Dams run on rules that reflect social and environmental concerns and taking into consideration environmental flow assessment
  • To further the cause of the residents residing in the trajectory of the extraordinary powerful flow of water, mud, and other avalanche in the event of break of a dam for any unforeseen reason.
  • To resort to all available options to create information campaigns at local, state, national and international level to create awareness on the importance of decommissioning old and debilitating dams and its impact on the residents living in the trajectory of water, mud and avalanche in the event of a break of dam due to natural or other reasons.
  • To ensure baseline social conditions and concerns, baseline ecosystem, surveys and to ensure a benefit sharing system/mechanism of all dams vis-à-vis the affected/related people.
  • To resort to all available options including addressing the government authorities to ensure safety of the dam, seeking legal remedies to ensure the constitutional and legal rights of citizens likely to be affected by damage of dams.
  • To involve in permissible levels of participation to handle the security programs of the Dam and circulate objective transparency details to the people living in the potentially dangerous areas of dams.
  • To constructively involve in the policies which have promulgated by the governments to protect the right of the people who live in the vicinity and trajectory of dams.
  • To conduct required social surveys, study reports and research findings about the water resources from time to time.
  • To ensure governance system for determining the de-commission of an existing dam upon completion of its natural life term, especially Mullapperiyar Dam.
  • To research on the economic risk assessment of dams.
  • Provide necessary humanitarian assistance to affected people during epidemic and times of social distress.
  • Promote pro-life activities recognizing value of human life at all stages from womb to grave and to provide food, shelter and clothing to deserving people.
  • To assist people to earn a livelihood by providing them suitable training in skills appropriate for them.
  • To propagate initiatives for reclaiming/ reconstruction / restoration of rivers and natural water resources in India.
  • To do any and all things authorized and permitted under the law in force for the time being, to achieve and further the objectives of the Trust as a non –profit organization.
